Reproductive System

The reproductive system is a system involved that allows for sexual reproduction to take place. The reproductive system includes the gonads which both male and females have.

Male gonads = Testes

Female gonads = Ovaries

The gonads create gamete(sex) cells.

Male gamete = Sperm cell

Female gamete = Ovum(egg) cell

4

Multiple Choice

Which of the following are the male gonads?

1

Ovaries

2

Testes

3

Sternum

4

Epidermis

5

Multiple Choice

Which of the following is the female gonads?

1

Ovaries

2

Testes

3

Sternum

4

Epidermis

6

Multiple Choice

Which is the male gamete?

1

Sperm

2

Egg

7

Multiple Choice

Which of the following is the female gamete?

1

Sperm

2

Egg

Endocrine System

The endocrine system is a system which includes many glands and organs that secrete(release) hormones(chemical messengers).

For example, the testes and ovaries both are responsible for releasing important sex hormones such as testosterone and estrogen.

Interaction with reproductive system:

The gonads which are apart of the reproductive system secrete sex hormones which is also apart of the endocrine system.

10

Multiple Choice

What do glands and organs in the endocrine system release(secrete)?

1

Blood

2

Enzymes

3

DNA

4

Hormones

11

Multiple Choice

The testes and ovaries are apart of the reproductive system and which other system?

1

skeletal system

2

nervous system

3

endocrine system

4

respiratory system

12

13

Muscular System

The muscular system is responsible for movement. Muscles pull on tendons which are attached to bones and allows for movement.

Interaction with reproductive system:

During child birth muscle contractions in the uterus push the baby through the birth canal.

14

Multiple Choice

What attaches muscles to bones?

1

Tendons

2

Ligaments

15

16

Circulatory System

The circulatory system is responsible for transporting blood, nutrients, and other important materials around the body.

Interaction with reproductive system:

The hormones secreted from the gonads are transported around the body through the circulatory system.

17

Multiple Choice

Which body system transports the hormones released from the gonads?

1

circulatory system

2

respiratory system

3

muscular system

4

integumentary system

endocrine and reproductive systems

4

reproductive and lymphatic systems

22

Multiple Choice

Which of the following scenarios demonstrates a direct interaction between the muscular system and the reproductive system?

1

Oxygen is absorbed at a faster rate by the mother during labor

2

Contractions force a baby through the birth canal

3

Hormones are released to cope with the birthing pains

4

Heat released by muscles causes the body to sweat during labor
