Life forces us to work like machines. But even machines need a touch of care to keep moving.

SIMPLE MACHINES

A machine is any object that makes work easier.

What are simple machines?

• A simple machine may have only one moving part, or it may have several moving parts.

• They do not always reduce the amount of force needed to do work.

• All machines need to do their job.

SIMPLE MACHINES

• The force you apply to cause a simple machine to do work is called the EFFORT.

• The weight of the object being moved is called the LOAD.

LEVER

• A lever is a bar that turns on a point. The point is the FULCRUM or PIVOT.

• The more distance there is between the effort and the fulcrum, the less effort is required to move the load.

WHEEL AND AXLE

• is a simple machine that has a grooved wheel with a rope that fits in the groove.

• It is mainly used to move an object against gravity to a higher position.

• The longer the inclined plane is, the less force is needed to move the object.

• is made up of one or more inclined planes used to force materials apart.

God created us to work

• God created us with the ability to work.

• He created some simple machines in living things. He wants people to discover others on their own.

• We mimic God's creativeness and glorify Him when we invent machines that help others.
