There's a lot we can say about what we EAT (and drink). How does it look, smell and taste?

Staff

Staff is the PEOPLE working at a place.

For example, at a restaurant, "staff" can mean chefs (people who cook dishes) and waiters / waitresses.

Decoration

When restaurants are decorated, they LOOK BETTER. We can decorate a restaurant with drawings, balloons, or even the trees you see here.

Wait time

If a restaurant makes you WAIT for a seat or food, you're not going to be very happy.

Price

HOW MUCH is the food? Is it cheap enough?

What does "it" refer to?

3. Choose the most possible word as the answer.

What is "pretty"?

We can sometimes guess the word

from a paragraph's topic sentence / first sentence .

Here, the writer wrote she "fell in love with this restaurant".

WHY? Because of what?

e.g."Everything in the shop was pretty"

"I fell in love with this restaurant when I saw..."

see things -> love the restaurant

"everything... pretty" -> Is pretty a good word or bad then?

Skill 3: Guessing the reason

using "and" and "when"

When we want to find a reason and do not see the word "because",

we pay attention to words such as

"and" and "when".

"and" and "when"

e.g.1 The pizza is tasty and I love it.

e.g.2 I was happy when I saw the food.

I love the pizza because the pizza is tasty.

I was happy because I saw the food.

The words before "and"

and words after "when"

tell us reasons.
