Perimeter & Area of Squares, Rectangles, and Triangles

Find the perimeter.

You can add it all up... 3 + 7 + 3 + 7

or you can use the formula

(2 x 3) + (2 x 7).

3 + 7 + 3 + 7 = 20 units

(2x3) + (2x7)

6 + 14 = 20 units

Find the area.

You multiply the length x width.

7 x 3 = 21 square units

Find the area.

Area of a triangle is found by multiplying the base x height and then dividing by 2 (or taking 1/2).

14 x 10 = 140
140  $\div$  2 = 70 square meters
