Understanding Slope-Intercept Form

Concept 1180

2

Slope-Intercept Form

  • Always has Y by itself

  • If Y is not by itself then use PEMDAS backwards (SADMEP) to get it by itself

  • Do NOT leave Y negative (-y=3x+4)

3

SLOPE-Intercept Form

  • M is just a placeholder for our slope

  • Sometimes there is no slope and there is NOTHING there

  • M or Slope can be a whole number but always graphed out like a fraction (RISE/RUN)

  • Every whole number as a fraction is that number over 1

5

Slope-INTERCEPT Form

  • B is the place holder for the intercept

  • This is where the line crosses the Y-Axis

  • When graphing the line always start here when it's in this form

  • Place a dot on the Y-Intercept and count your slope (Rise//Run) from there
