How do we form questions?

And negative sentences?

7

In Interrogative sentences...

  • We use DID in the beginning of the questions if the verb is not TO BE. The verb does not change. For example: DID you like the film? / Where DID you go yesterday?

  • When the verb is TO BE, we only use WAS or WERE. For example: Where was Alice last Friday? / Were you at home on Sunday?

8

In negative sentences...

  • With the verb TO BE we make the verb negative. For example: I wasn't on the beach last week. / We weren't at school last week.

  • With ALL the other verbs, we add DIDN'T and keep the verb in the base form. For example: She didn't do her homework yesterday.
