Gravitational Energy

2
Gravity
A force that pulls objects towards the center of the earth.
It is the force that keeps us and other things on the ground.
Without the earth's gravity, all items would just float away.
3
In your Gravity Parachute trials experiment:
Gravity is the force that causes the coin to fall down to the ground.
When the parachute is attached to the coin, it falls slower because the parachute is going against the pull of gravity.
Without the parachute, the coin falls down to the ground faster.
4
Gravitational Energy
Energy stored in an object due to its height above the ground.
An example of this is when you are holding the coin above the floor just before you let it fall to the ground.
5
Multiple Choice
What is Gravity?
It causes chemical reactions
It is a force that keeps objects on the ground.
It can cause the flow of energy through a wire.
It is a force that allows things to float.
6
Multiple Choice
Which statement best describes Gravitational Energy?
Energy resulting from a flow of energy charge through a wire or another medium.
Energy that is released during a reaction, often in the form of heat.
Energy that is stored in an object due to its height above the ground.
Energy in an object due to motion, involving kinetic and potential energy.
7
Multiple Choice
What would happen if we did not have Gravity?
Objects would stay on the ground.
Objects would disappear.
Objects would float away.
Objects would combust.
8
Multiple Choice
Based on your Gravitational Energy experiment, what happens when you drop the coin while it is attached to the parachute?
It falls to the ground slower.
It falls to the ground faster.
Nothing happens.
