Why are coasts important?

• People go to coasts for leisure

• To participate in sporting activities

• Sheltered parts of the coasts are used as ports for ships

• Food such as fish and other resources such as salt and oil are also found in coastal areas

How have human activities harmed the coast?

• Human beings have littered the oceans and seas with garbage that pollute marine life

• Factories and industries release chemical and sewage waste waste into oceans thereby polluting the beaches and sea water
