Making Sentences Negative

To make a sentence negative in French, you put ne or n' before the verb and pas after the verb. (NE or N' - Verb - Pas)

N' is used if the verb begins with a vowel.

e.g Nous aimons le chocolat.

Nous n'aimons pas le chocolat.

Ne is used if the verb begins with a consonant.

e.g Je mange.

Je ne mange pas.
