What is a Diary
A diary is a personal account of the writer's thoughts and feelings over the course of the day or perhaps the week. Diaries are private records of happenings in one's life.
There are several types of diaries. This includes:
1. Wartime Diaries
2. Travel Diaries
3. Dream Diaries
4. Historical Diaries
5. Fictional Dairies

Features of a diary
Uses first person: I, Me, My, Mine Us, Our, We.
Day and date are written at the top of each diary entry, eg. 26th April 2015
Events recounted in order of time, 'After that...Next...That evening...'
New paragraph when there is a shift in topic. Eg. Later that day... The next day
Uses Chatty or informal language
Written in the past tense.
Includes the thoughts and feelings of the writer.
