What's Easter?

• Easter is a spring festival of new life.

• it is the beginning of growth and new life after the cold, winter months.

• Easter celebrates life and rebirth, that's why we see lots of symbols of new life at Easter, like eggs, chicks and rabbits.

When is it?

• Easter isn’t on the same date each year.

• It's on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring.

Chocolate eggs

• Chocolate eggs are EXTREMELY POPULAR.

• For most British children, Easter means Chocolate Easter eggs.

• Some people believe that too much chocolate is eaten and most doctors and dentists advise people to not eat this much Easter eggs.

Other traditions:

• Chickens’ eggs are painted and decorated to give as presents

• Parents hide eggs in gardens for their children to find. It's called 'egg hunt'.

Food

• Hot cross buns are cakes that are made at Easter.
