Haykavan
A village in the Armavir region of Armenia.
The settlement is located at an altitude of 870 m above sea level, 9 km south of the regional center.
Before the invasion of Shah Abbas in 1605, the village was inhabited by Armenians.
Tatars lived here until the beginning of the 20th century after the expulsion organized by Shah Abbas.

The village has been inhabited by Armenians since the 1820s.
The Tatars called the village Tapadibi, which means "in front of the hill", i.e. Armavir hill. Some of the ancestors of the inhabitants migrated here from Surmalu և Igdir.
The name of 'Tapadib' is of Armenian origin. However, it is interesting that after becoming Armenian again, the villagers renamed the village Haykavan.

The Armenian inscription on the wall of the half-ruined church with a rectangular plan, built-in 1870, proves that the church was built for the believers of Armavir village, that is, the village of Armavir itself is the present-day Haykavan village.
Since there is no dividing territory between the two villages, it is possible that those villages were one earlier, but for some reason, they were divided and became two separate villages.
