Delayed Descriptors: Lesson #2

Word or words that come AFTER the thing it is describing.

It will interrupt the sentence, so commas are needed.

In the middle of the sentence, usually right after the item it is describing.

Commas are needed on each side.

The monkey, eating his banana, stayed away from the others.

Open Ended

The elephant, . . . , wandered through the jungle.

Open Ended

The old tiger, . . ., hunted for prey.

The delayed descriptor may come at the end of the sentence.

It will only need one comma.

The monkey avoided the others, afraid they would steal his banana.

The two boys learned how to ride skate boards, . . .

The rain beat down hard, . . .
