What is Volume?

• Volume is the amount of space inside an object

• We use cubes to describe the volume of solids

• A cubic centimtre has a length, width and height of 1 cm

• We use cubic centimetres because they are small, and because they equal 1 millilitre

How do you calculate volume?

• It is easy!

• Just multiply the length by the width, and then multiply that number by the height

• 2 x 2 = 4, and 4 x 4 = 16
