Present Perfect

Just / already / yet

4

JUST

  • Just = a short time ago.

  • For example:

  • -Are you hungry?

  • -No, I've just had lunch.

  • Hello, have you just arrived?

5

ALREADY

  • We use "already" to say that something happened sooner than expected.

  • -Don't forget to send the project before the task closes.

  • -Don't worry, I have already sent it!

  • Read the next example:

  • -What time is the teacher leaving?

  • -He's already gone!

6

YET

  • Yet = until now.

  • "Yet" shows that the speaker is expecting something to happen. Use yet only with questions and negative sentences.

  • Has it stopped raining yet?

  • I've done the Maths homework but I haven't sent it yet.
