Poll
What do you prefer more? Reading books or e-gadgets?
Reading books more interesting than e-gadgets
E-gadgets are more useful and comfortable
I prefer neither books, nor e-gadgets
Both variants are comfortable and useful
At home, I'm allowed to use either books or e-gadgets.

Perspective modern life
With continuous evolving technology, gadgets have always had a significant effect on our lives. Whether this effect has been a boon or a bane is a debate. As time passes by, technologies come up and we upgrade ourselves to keep in touch with time.
Take the telephone for instance. It enabled us to communicate with people far away from us. With further development came the mobile phone, a portable version of the telephone. After some more evolutions, we arrived at smartphones. And today the population of smartphones has started to overshadow the population of telephones.
4
Could we choose either of these two items? Or, neither of them have good sides?
Gadgets take up very little space as compared to books.
But gadgets may crash, freeze, or get hacked, but books cannot.
What do you think about the good and bad sides of books and e-gadgets? Send me an audio message!
5
Did you face some new expressions in the previous question?
We use either and neither to talk about two things or people.
either= A or B (one thing/person or the other thing/person)
neither= not A and not B (zero out of two things or people
6
Either...or
The expression either...or means to make a choice between the first one and the second one. (Сөйлемде бірінші немесе екінші нәрсенің арасында таңдау жасау керек болғанда)
For example, Cassie has to decide. She can either read a book or do home tasks.
7
Either...or
is used in a sentence in the affirmative sense when referring to a choice between two possibilities (мүмкін болған екі нәрсенің арасында таңдау жасағанда, сөйлем болымды мағынада қалады
For example, many people still confuse either e-gadgets are comfortable or books are useful
8
Neither...nor
is used to join two negative ideas. (екі болымсыз ойды жалғау үшін қолданылады)
this expression already used in a negative sense, so we shouldn't use 'not' or 'no' in a sentence together with 'neither...nor' (neither...nor өзі сөйлемге болымсыз мағына беретіндіктен, онымен бірге 'not', 'no' сөздерін қолданудың қажеті жоқ)
For example, my brother can use neither books nor e-gadgets, because he is only 3.
9
Neither...nor
is used to deny two possibilities (мүмкін болатын екі идеяны жоққа шығару үшін қолданылады
For example, teenagers believe neither the advantages nor disadvantages of books and gadgets
With expressions 'either...or', 'neither...nor': if both subject elements are singular, then the verb is singular too. If one of the elements is plural, then the verb is plural too. ('neither...nor', 'either...or' сөйлемдерінде бастауыш элементтері жекеше түрде берілсе, етістік те жекеше түрде жазылады. Егер, элементтердің біреуі көпше түрде болса, етістік те көпше түрде жазылады.)
For example, neither my mother nor my father uses e-gadgets.
Either a teacher or the students are going to read a new book.
