Articles

• 'A', 'an', and 'the' are called articles.

• 'A' and 'an' are indefinite articles.

• We use 'a' and 'an' with singular nouns.

Articles

• The article 'a' is used for words which begin with a consonant sound.

• Example: My sister works as a lawyer in Kuantan

• The article 'an' Is used for words which begin with a vowel sound or a silent 'h',

• Examples: This Is an aquarium. Kamini's father takes an hour to wash his car.

• 'An' is not used before a word that begins with a vowel sound 'y'. We use 'a' instead.

• Example: Idith wore a uniform for the seminar.

• 'The' is a definite article. We use 'the' with singular and plural nouns.

• Examples: The sun is round. (singular)

• The boys are playing football. (plural)
