Connecting LMS's with Quizizz

Learning Management Systems

• Basically a complete software to assist teacher in classroom.

• Used from small things like attendance to big things like grading students throughout the year

• Teachers can create various kinds of assignments on them - graded/ungraded; maths, physics etc; long/short answer, essays etc.

Where do we come in?

• Before connecting with Quizizz the teacher will create a lesson or quiz and then distribute to students why a game code/link and then individually add the grades to their LMS systems.

• Now they can start a lesson/game on Quizizz and choose which classes to assign to.

• Quizizz automatically assigns it on the particular LMS class and notifies students on both the LMS platform and on their Quizizz account.

• Student solves the quiz/lesson and then on completion the grade gets marked on the LMS platform also, so no manual entries for the teacher to hassle with

LMS sytems we support

Google Classroom (GCL)

• Very widely used overall and by Quizizz teachers as well.

• Open for any teacher to connect GCL with Quizizz

• Currently the most popular LMS system used on our platform

Canvas

• Only available if you have the S&D plan

• Not an open system like GCL as the organization opting in has to host the canvas service themselves. Either by themselves or using some service by Canvas itself.

• The self hosting means each school has a unique instance of canvas running and makes it a little complicated to link it with Quizizz

• For linking we need to get a consumer key, consumer secret and the hosted url of the canvas instance and then manually add it to quizizz database via the support portal

Schoology

• Only available if you have the S&D plan

• Not as complicated to link as canvas. Though still involves a couple of steps.

• For linking we need to get the hosted url of the school schoology account and then manually add it to Quizizz database via the support portal.

• Has a unique issue of a thing called 'Grade Category' - basically each assignment needs a grade category associated with it. This dictates how the assignment will be graded and where all the grade will count throughout the semester. Like if the teacher creates a 'Physics' grade category then their intention is that any assignment associated counts towards the physics grade.

• This is unique to Schoology so we have not provided full support to choose the category for each Quizizz assignment. We always create a new category by the name 'Quizizz' and always assign anything to that.

How it works

Import classes from the LMS's

• You can do this by going to quizizz.com/admin/classes.

• Clicking on any of the available LMS buttons.

• If you have never connected then it will go through the authorization flow of the LMS

• If you have connected before it would fetch all the classes and list them for you to pick them.

Assign you game/lesson to the class

• You can assign any game you started to a class while assigning it on the start page or after startiing it on Live dashboard/Reports page

• You select the classes you want to assign.

• You can add a title and description of the assignment and also schedule it for different times though only for homework assignments.

• You can also assign the game to specific students in the class.

• And your role as a teacher ends. Good job.

It shows up for the student on their LMS like this on Schoology.
