1
The production of sperm
■ Sperm is made in the two testes held in the scrotal sac.
■ Each testis is made of a set tiny of tubes called SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES.
■ The tubules contain cell which divide by a special process called MEIOSIS.
■ These cells divide and form the sperm cells
2
Production of sperm
■ 'Nurse cells' are special cells in the testes which provide nutrients for the developing sperm.
■ When the sperm a fully developed, they are transported to the epididymis, a coiled tube at the outer edge of the testis.
■ Here the sperm are matured and stored for a short time.

The diagram given represents the human male reproductive system. Which activity would be prevented by blockages at X
and Y?
transport of urine out of the body
passage of testosterone to the female to stimulate
egg production
movement of sperm out of the body
movement of testosterone to the testes to
stimulate sperm production

Multiple Choice
Base your answer to the following question on the diagram given and on your knowledge of biology. The letters in the diagram indicate structures present in a human male.
What change would occur immediately if both
structures labeled B were damaged or blocked?
Structure A would decrease in size.
The blood supply to structure E would decrease.
Gametes would no longer be transported to
structure C.
Structure D would be able to deliver more
gametes.
