What is Alliteration?

• the use of the same sound or sounds, especially consonants, at the beginning of several words that are close together:

• Example:

• Round the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran

Alliteration Examples:

• Paula planted the pretty pink poppies in the pot.

• Bake a big cake with lots of butter and bring it to the birthday bash.

• Garry grumpily gathered the garbage.

What is Assonance?

• is the repetition of the same or similar vowel sounds within words, phrases, or sentences.

• Example:

•  Sally sells sea shells beside the sea shore
