Where do go you when...

• you need a haircut?

• you need new glasses?

• there's a big stain on your jacket?

• your car or motorbike breaks down?

Causatives get and have

• You can use get and have to ask other people to do things for you.

When you want to show who you ask, you can use:

• GET + :) (someone)+ to+ verb

• HAVE + :) (someone) + verb

Examples:

• I get my brother to fix my car.

• I have my brother fix my car.

• We'll get my sister to plan our wedding.

• We'll have my sister plan our wedding

When who you ask is not important, you can use:

• GET or HAVE + something + verb in past participle

Examples:

• I get my car fixed at my uncle's garage.

• I have my car fixed at my uncle's garage

• I always get my hair cut professionally.

• We're having a new house built now.

• I paid a lot to have the leak repaired.
