You can find them in country parks with ponds, like Lions Park near Sai Kung. The Asian pintail is quite shy. It can only fly a short distance, and will keep close to the leaves of plants or trees.

Birdwing butterfly

Of the many insects found in Hong Kong, only the Birdwing Butterfly is a protected species. Why? Because its distinct and beautiful and yellow wings make this butterfly a target by traders, who catch them and sell them for money. Over-catching of the Birdwing Butterfly has led a drop in its population. Birdwings are the largest butterflies in Hong Kong. Their wings can extend to 16 cm. wide!
