9/11 Attack
On Sept 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked 4 planes and to crash into buildings in New York City and Washington DC. Al-Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden, plan these attacks as a response to the U.S. presence in the Middle East. President Bush reponded with invaasions of Iraq and Afghanistan to eliminate Al-Qaeda and places that support terrorism.

Leader in Technology
At the end of the 20th Century and the beginning of the 21st Century, Texas is leading the way in major advances in today's technology. Texas Instruments created the first microchip, leading to smaller computers. The Space Center has brought rocket scientists and astronauts. MD Anderson and the Heart Institute are some of the top hospitals in the country. This leadership brought more jobs to Texas in areas of computer, technology, medicine, and aerospace.

Since the invention of the microchip, Texas has been a major leader in computer and technology. In the 80's, Michael Dell started his computer company while he was a student at the University of Texas. Over time, many major technology companies have decided to make their headquarters in Austin, TX. Even Tesla has announced that they will be moving to Texas and the Austin area.
