Quadratic Functions

  • Quadratic functions always have an exponent of 2 on x, and they make a shape called a parabola when graphed.

  • To find the vertex, use the formula  b2a\frac{-b}{2a}  to get the x-value. Then plug that x back into the original function to find the y-value

  • The leading coefficient (a) tells you whether the parabola opens UP or DOWN.
