What is past continuous tense?

  • A sentence that is past continuous always have was/were and verb + ing

  • Example: The cat was running away from the storm / We were hiding under the tree

  • It is different from past tense because past tense does not use was/were

  • Example: My dad cleaned the house yesterday (past tense)/ My dad was cleaning the house yesterday (past continuous tense)
