People who wanted the 13 colonies to gain their independence from Britain.
Wanted their own country called the Unitd States.

Life became increasingly difficult during the war. Loyalists who lived in areas controlled by the patriots were in constant danger. Many of them lost their homes and businesses.

Patriot towns created juries of men called "Committees of Safety." The juries would protect people passing through Patriot Land during the war.
