Symbiosis
Hello! Today we are learning about Symbiosis.

2
Types
There are 5 main types of Symbiosis that we will be talking about.
Mutualism
commensalism
Parisatism
Predator-Prey
Competition
3
Mutualism
Mutualism is a type of symbiosis where two organisms are benefiting off of each other. For example, A bird eats parasites off an elephant. The bird is getting to eat, and the elephant is becoming free of the parasites. BOTH are benefiting.
For short, this is M
4
Commensalism
Commensalism is pretty similar. It is a relationship between two organisms, but this time only one of them is getting benefited. The other is not. However, it is not being harmed either. For example, a frog hides behind a leaf. The frog is being protected and benefited by the leaf, but the leaf isn't getting benefitted nor harmed.
For short, this is C
5
Parasitism
Parasitism is another relationship between two organisms. One animal is benefiting, and the other is getting harmed. For example, a mosquito lands on a human and sucks its blood. Mosquitos actually use that blood to reproduce, so it is benefiting the mosquitos. However, it is harming the human, giving it swelling, itchiness, and potential disease.
For short, this is P
6
Predator/prey
This is also a relationship between two organisms. However, this is a little different than the other 3. As the name says, it is a relationship between the predator and its prey or the prey and its predator. There is no way of knowing for sure what will happen to the organisms.
For short, this is P-P
7
Competition
Competition is two OR MORE organisms competing against each other for nutrients, food, and things they need to grow. For example, if two lions are both chasing after a deer, it is a competition. Two organisms are fighting or competing over something.
For short, this is CMP
