A. Definition of CLL

Community Language Learning (CLL) is a language teaching method that involves aspects of psychology where students work together to develop the language skills they want to learn. This method was first developed by Charles A. Curran and his association called Counseling-Learning theory.

B. Community Language Learning Method

The main task of a teacher in this approach is the counselor that is eliminating or at least reducing all negative feelings of students. Teachers who use CLL want their students to learn how to use the target language communicatively. In addition, they want their students to learn about their own learning, to take increasing responsibility for it, and learn how to learn from each other.

D. The Techniques of CLL

1. Recording student conversation

This technique is done by recording the language produced by students and providing opportunities for community learning to occur. After the conversation is recorded, the recording is played repeatedly.

2.Transcription

The technique is done by the teacher copying the recorded conversation of the target student's language and each student is asked to translate his speech. Students can copy transcripts after they are fully written on the board or on large paper, the size of a poster, or the teacher can give them a copy. Transcripts serve as a reference later on and for the purpose of increasing student safety.

E. Thinking about The Experience

1. Reflective Listening

The students listen to their own voice speaking the target language on the recording or in other ways ie the teacher reads the transcript while the students only listen.

2.Human Computer

A student chooses several parts of the transcript to practice pronunciation. then repeat the sentence as often as possible and practice it. The teacher repeats the words or phrases clearly then the student corrects himself when he tries to imitate the teacher's model.

3. Small group task

Make small groups and make new sentences with words on the transcript. Then make sentences with different verb conjugations in pairs. Small groups allow students to get to know one another better. This can lead to community development among class members.
