A Fossil is something which has been preserved, usually by being buried. A fossil can be plant, any kind of animal, insect a fish or anything else which used to be alive. are sometimes made of stones, but usually, they are made out of whatever they stared out as before they buried. Coal by fossilised wood. Or fossilised plant and animal remain which have turned to liquid.

Nearly all fossils are found in sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary is rock formed by water. Plants or animals are buried by fowling water, mud, sill, shingle, and sand. As layer of sediment build up a plant or animal is compressed, and same tiny minerals work their way body of the creature. Eventually the creature sets hard and become part of a rock, then along comes a paleontologist and chip away the rock, reveling the shape of a dead creature (or plant).

Some researches have made their own fossils, using sea-water plus bacteria. Using this method dead shrimp turned into fossils in about 6 weeks. This backs up the Bible, which tells of a wide flood which buried less than a yea, leaving billions of fossils in the rocks today.
