Direct Object Pronouns
Receives the direct action of the verb
Example: I sent the email. (the email is what was sent therefore it received the direct action of the verb.)
If we want to be less specific, we could say: I sent it.
"email" is the Direct Object
"it" is the Direct Object Pronoun used to replace "email"

Sentence Placement
If you have both a direct object and an indirect object pronoun in a sentences the Indirect Object always goes first (ID).
In a single verb structure, direct and indirect object pronouns MUST go in FRONT of the conjugated verb.
Example: They sent it (the email) to us.= Ellos nos lo mandaron.
If there is a compound verb construction (2 verbs next to each other) you can place the object pronouns in front of the conjugated verb or attach them to the end of the infinitive verb.
Example: They want to send it (the email) to us.= Ellos quieren mandarnoslo.
