What is a Dependent Clause?

• a group of words with a subject and a verb. It does not express a complete thought so it is not a sentence and can't stand alone.

• There are two types of dependent clauses:

• Adverb Clause

• Adjective Clause

Adjective Dependent Clause:

• begin with a relative pronoun

• relative pronoun + verb + subject complement/direct object = dependent clause!

Adverb Dependent Clause:
