What is a flipped classroom?

  • A flipped classroom allows teachers to present a lesson virtually directly to each student.

  • Each student can proceed at their own level. If some need more time, they can review the lessons again.

  • This frees up the classroom time to complete assignments.

My Experience with a Flipped Classroom.

Not much! I have used Quizizz to present lessons virtually while I was subbing. It was a fun way to incoporate questions into my lesson to check for understanding.

My opinion on a Flipped Classroom

I can see the advantages. Most students today are bored with direct instruction. They lose interest quickly when all you do is lecture. Capturing student interest is crucial for students to succeed.

Learning Styles

I believe that not every student learns the same. And unfortunately when I was subbing, the lessons were very scripted and I had to follow them. There was little room for changing my learning style. I do think, as a teacher, you need to find what works best for your students and yourself. I myself am a visual learner. I do best when I can watch and repeat. So a Flipped Classroom is ideal for me.
