How to add whole numbers

Hello, today we will be learnign how to add whole numbers. So, lets start with the basics.

The basics

So, to start off lets take the addition problem 5 + 3. To add this problem we can use our fingers. take your fingers, put them in front of you while they are in fists, and count out five of them and put them up. One hand of fingers should now be in the air. Now, we will keep the five up, and also on the other hand, put up 3. Now count all your fingers. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. So, our answer would be 8. 5 + 3 = 8. We added 3 of our fingers to five of them which gave us our answer.

Another problem to do

Lets solve another problem. Lets solve 3 + 5. If you couldn't already tell, we are using the same numbers, just switching the numbers around. Lets use our fingers again. Put 3 fingers up, then, put 5 more up and count them all. You should be getting the same answer. If you have an addition problem, and switch around the numbers, you would have the same amount as before.
