That's because they're kind of interchangeable.

Which word you use sometimes depends on the situation.

And at other times, it depends on your personal preference.

Just remember: Could is for past tense and politeness, while CAN is for the present and future tenses and informal speaking.

And a lot of them are interchangeable!

So don't worry about making mistakes, since that's also a part of the learning process.
