Adding numbers

Rules for adding whole numbers

• Always write the numbers so each place value lines up vertically.

• Add the digits in each place value. Work from right to left starting with the ones place.

• Continue adding each place value from right to left, adding each place value and carrying if needed.

Adding 1 digit numbers together.

Step-By-Step

• Make sure numbers are aligned, ones on top of ones, tens on top of tens, hundreds on top of hundreds, etc...

• Add each number from right to left

• Regroup if it adds up to a number over 9!

It equals 14!
