6
While some people will be real, there are elements of fiction in this story.
...
7
8
9
Let's Meet the Suspects!
One (or more) did it!
10
John Jacob Astor IV
was the richest man aboard the Titanic. PS: He was real!
11
Not only was he the richest man on the Titanic...
He was one of the richest people in the world at that time with a net worth of roughly $87 million (equivalent to $2.33 billion in 2020).
12
Millvina Hart, who was John Astor’s assistant, was also aboard the Titanic.
She accompanied Mr. Astor to keep his business running smoothly.
13
Molly Brown, also known as “the unsinkable Molly Brown”, was a close friend of Jacob Astor’s.
She was the richest woman aboard the Titanic. Her husband did not accompany her on the ship.
14
Eva Dean was Mr. Astor’s private maid.
She made sure that his quarters on the ship were always well maintained.
15
Thomas Hutchens was another wealthy man on the Titanic.
...
16
Mr. Astor and Mr. Hutchens were sworn enemies.
They were always out to sabotage each other.
17
Robert Andrews was the servant for the first class quarters of the ship.
(fun fact: this is the real photo of Thomas Andrews, a real passenger).
18
Robert and Eva worked closely together.
They had been friends before they were hired on to the Titanic.
19
Mr. Astor kept his valuable jewels in a private safe.
He was very wealthy.
20
Only Mr. Astor and Mrs. Hart had the combination to the safe.
...
21
Molly Brown was known for her outrageous antics and gossip. She always had something to say about everyone.
PS: This is a REAL true fact!
22
Millvina and Eva were seen together just before they boarded a life boat.
...
23
Poll
So far, who is the most suspicious to you?
24
Molly told authorities that she overheard Thomas Hutchens plotting against Mr. Astor.
She loved egging their fights on and she loved drama.
25
John Jacob Astor was the only one of the characters to not make it onto a lifeboat.
PS: This is true...he did not get on a lifeboat during the Titanic sinking.
26
Millvina and Eva became close friends while working on the Titanic together.
Although it had only been several days, they said they felt as if they had been friends forever.
27
Eva was from a very poor family.
She had lived in a small village outside of London where she grew up.
28
Thomas Hutchens was envious of Mr. Astor.
29
Eva told authorities that she saw Molly Brown bribing Millvina Hart, but she wasn’t sure why.
30
Millvina was very under paid for her hard work and dedication to Mr. Astor and his company.
31
Mr. Astor opened his safe and checked on his jewels the evening of the sinking.
At around 6:30 p.m., his jewels were still secure in their safe.
32
The jewels went missing between 6:30 p.m. when Mr. Astor last checked on them and 9:00 p.m. when he returned to his room and realized they were missing.
33
Thomas Hutchens was dining in the men’s only lounge between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
34
The ship began to sink at 9:00 pm.
35
Robert was on duty from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the first class dining hall.
There were several guests who confirmed his whereabouts.
36
John Jacob Astor was the only one of the characters to not make it onto a lifeboat.
PS: This is true...he did not get on a lifeboat during the Titanic sinking.
