Let's Meet the Suspects!

One (or more) did it!

10

John Jacob Astor IV

was the richest man aboard the Titanic. PS: He was real!

Slide image

11

Not only was he the richest man on the Titanic...

He was one of the richest people in the world at that time with a net worth of roughly $87 million (equivalent to $2.33 billion in 2020).

12

Millvina Hart, who was John Astor’s assistant, was also aboard the Titanic.

She accompanied Mr. Astor to keep his business running smoothly.

13

Molly Brown, also known as “the unsinkable Molly Brown”, was a close friend of Jacob Astor’s.

She was the richest woman aboard the Titanic. Her husband did not accompany her on the ship.

Slide image

14

Eva Dean was Mr. Astor’s private maid.

She made sure that his quarters on the ship were always well maintained.

Slide image

15

Thomas Hutchens was another wealthy man on the Titanic.

...

Slide image

16

Mr. Astor and Mr. Hutchens were sworn enemies.

They were always out to sabotage each other.

Slide image

17

Robert Andrews was the servant for the first class quarters of the ship.

(fun fact: this is the real photo of Thomas Andrews, a real passenger).

Slide image

18

Robert and Eva worked closely together.

They had been friends before they were hired on to the Titanic.

Slide image

19

Mr. Astor kept his valuable jewels in a private safe.

He was very wealthy.

Slide image

20

Only Mr. Astor and Mrs. Hart had the combination to the safe.

...

Slide image

21

Molly Brown was known for her outrageous antics and gossip. She always had something to say about everyone.

PS: This is a REAL true fact!

Slide image

22

Millvina and Eva were seen together just before they boarded a life boat.

So far, who is the most suspicious to you?

24

Molly told authorities that she overheard Thomas Hutchens plotting against Mr. Astor.

She loved egging their fights on and she loved drama.

Slide image

John Jacob Astor was the only one of the characters to not make it onto a lifeboat.

PS: This is true...he did not get on a lifeboat during the Titanic sinking.

Slide image

26

Millvina and Eva became close friends while working on the Titanic together.

Although it had only been several days, they said they felt as if they had been friends forever.

Slide image

27

Eva was from a very poor family.

She had lived in a small village outside of London where she grew up.

Slide image

Mr. Astor opened his safe and checked on his jewels the evening of the sinking.

At around 6:30 p.m., his jewels were still secure in their safe.

Slide image
