PROPERTIES OF ADDITION

1. COMMUTATIVE PROPERTY OF ADDITION1.

This rule just says that, when you are doing addition, it doesn't matter which order the numbers are in. You can add a and b OR you can add b and a ... and you'll get the same answer. 

2. ASSOCIATIVE PROPERTY OF ADDITION

To “associate” means to connect or join with something. According to the associative property of addition, the sum of three or more numbers remains the same regardless of how the numbers are grouped.

3. IDENTITY PROPERTY OF ADDITION

The identity property of addition simply states that when you add zero to any number, it equals the number itself.

4. DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY OF ADDITION OVER MULTIPLICATION

The literal definition of the distributive property is that multiplying a number by a sum is the same as doing each multiplication separately.
