Relative Clause คืออะไร

Relative clause หมายถึง อนุประโยคที่ทำหน้าที่ขยายคำนามที่อยู่ข้างหน้า ซึ่งทำหน้าที่คล้ายกับ Adjective บางตำราเลยเรียกว่า Adjective Clause

การใช้ Relative Clause

Relative clause จะใช้ขยายคำนามคล้ายกับคำคุณศัพท์ (adjective)

The cat is black. It is eating fish.

The cat, which is black, is eating a fish.

Relative Clause 

relative clause มี 2 แบบ คือ

defining relative clause และ non-defining relative clause

Defining relative clause หรือ restrictive relative clause  หมายถึง  relative clause ที่ระบุเจาะจง 

 

Non-defining relative clause หรือ non-restrictive relative clause 

หมายถึง relative clause ที่เสริมข้อมูล

Defining relative clause คือ

defining relative clause คือ relative clause ที่ระบุเจาะจงลงไปว่าหมายถึงใคร อันไหน ถ้าไม่รุบุเจาะจงจะทำให้เกิดความเข้าใจผิดใด้ เช่น เรามีพีชายสามคน เวลาเรากล่าวถึงคนใดคนหนึ่ง เราต้องระบุให้ชัดเจนว่าเป็นคนไหน

Non-defining relative clause คือ

non-defining relative clause คือ relative clause ที่เสริมข้อมูลเข้าไปเฉยๆ เป็นการอธิบายขยายความเพิ่มเติม ซึ่งเป็นที่เข้าใจกันดีอยู่แล้วระหว่างคนพูดและคนฟัง จะตัดทิ้งออกไปก็ได้ และจะอยู่ในเครื่องหมายคอมม่า (comma)
