Mixed Conditional - Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp

If Hành động (Quá khứ) -----> Kết quả: Hiện tại

If QKHT (had + PII) -------> would/could/might + V

If Hành động (trong hiện tại) ------> kết quả (trong quá khứ)

Nếu việc này xảy ra, việc kia đã có thể xảy ra trong quá khứ

If + QK (Ved) -------> would/could/might + have + PII

1. Unless = If not (Nếu....không...)

2. Provided/providing (that) and so/as long as = Miễn là/ Với điều kiện là ....

3. Even if = cho dù

4. Or else = không thì

Example: Hurry up or else we’ll miss the train

Even if we hurry up, we'll miss the train

1. Otherwise: nếu không thì....

Ex: We were delayed at the airport; otherwise, we’d have been there by noon

2. assuming (that): giả định rằng

Ex: Assuming (that) you get a university place, how will you pay for your studies? 

3. suppose/supposing/imagine (that) = what if... ? = chuyện gì sẽ xảy ra nếu....

Suppose you lose your job, what will you do? 

4. in case = phòng khi

I’ll buy an umbrella in case it rains.
