The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is the most accepted theory of how the universe began. It states that prior to the Big Bang, everything that makes up the universe of today was found in a densely packed tiny point, called the point of singularity. It was all jumbled up and unorganized. Suddenly about 13.7 billion years ago it began to expand.

3

Multiple Choice

What is the Big Bang Theory?

1

A great TV show

2

A theory to explain how the Universe is organized

3

A theory to explain how the Universe began

4

A theory to explain how large explosions occur

4

Evidence for the Big Bang

1 - Hubble's Law states that the universe is expanding.

Hubble observed that galaxies were moving away from each other, and at different speeds.

5

Evidence for the Big Bang

2 - Microwaves - Scientists have discovered left over radiation from the Big Bang Theory called microwaves.

2 - Microwaves - Scientists have discovered left over radiation from the Big Bang Theory called microwaves.

3 - Elements - Scientists have discovered the same elements found on Earth are also on other planets, asteroids, moons, and comets, all over our solar system. If the same elements are found all over, then everything must have come from the same source.

7

Multiple Select

Which of these are evidence for the Big Bang Theory? (Select 3)

1
