SOCIAL FUNCTION
To describe a particular person, place, or thing.
TEXT STRUCTURES
1. Identification: identifies phenomenon to be described (what/who).
2. Description: describes parts, qualities, characteristics.
LANGUAGE FEATURES
- Focus on specific participant: my teacher, my house, my rabbit, etc.
- Using Simple present tense. (To be: am, is, are, verb 1: go, goes, write, writes, have, has, etc)
- Using detailed noun phrase: to give information about subject. she is beautiful girl, he is a diligent student, etc.
- Using adjectives: smart, happy, young, dark, etc.
