  • Haiku is a new expression.

  • Originally it was Hokku

  • It is a Japanese Verse form

  • It was established in 16 th Century.

  • Has 17 syllables in lines

  • i.e 5+7+5 syllables

  • Ideal for Expressing a single idea,thought or feeling.

English poets WB Yeats and Robert Frost have used this form.

It also attracted Imagist poets Ezra Pound and Amy Lowell. Haiku become popular after World War II
