Once you have selected your topic, then create a Mind Map.

You can prepare it hand-drawn OR using an online app OR

Microsoft PowerPoint.

You have to include sources in your mind map.

Let's take a look at your seniors' mind map submission:

Multiple Choice

Question image

Based on the video lesson, you SHOULD NEVER write/include ANY in-text citations in Main Points A & B.

Therefore, Main Points should be written as a statement only.

1

TRUE

2

FALSE

34

Remember!

Main Points should be written as a statement only with NO CITATION (at all!).

For RTA & PE:

Citations are ONLY used in Supporting Details (SDs) to elaborate more on the Main Point.

For OPOWER: no citations

media

35

Main Point (A & B) introduces/highlights the ideas or points that you want to explain.

Supporting Details (SDs) always support Main Point statement by providing evidence using in-text citation form (paraphrase/summary).

36

Multiple Choice

Based on the video lesson in your respective class session, you can cite a source for every SDs. But are we allowed to cite from ONE source only instead of more than one (ONE citation = ONE SD/subpoint?

1

YES

2

NO

37

Yes, you can ALSO use just ONE source instead of more than one source/evidence as in-text citation in supporting a Main Point.

You could see that in Main Point B, the writer uses SAME source and three types of in-text citation techniques in paraphrasing.

media

38

Therefore, it does not mean that restrictedly, you need to cite for every Supporting Details (SDs) or sub-points

(more than one citations = two sources).

You can still use ONE citation for both or more SDs as shown in the previous slide.

39

So how does it look like if you cite ONE (1) source= for each ONE (1) Supporting Details (SDs)/sub point (more than 1 citation/source)?

Here, SD/Subpoint 1. is using one citation from Sripriya (newspaper article).

And the next SD/subpoint i. is using an external source from Salmi (research article).

Thus, this is an example of TWO citations = ONE (1) source for each ONE (1) Supporting Details (SDs)/sub point

media

TWO citations = ONE (1) DIFFERENT source each
