AIR TEMPERATURE

The air temperature refers to the hotness or coldness of the air around us. You feel hot when the air temperature is high and you feel cool when the air temperature is low.

WIND SPEED AND WIND DIRECTION

Wind is a moving air. It is caused by the unequal heating of Earth’s surface. When air is heated, it rises while its density decreases and forms a low pressure. Hot air rises and cold air falls. The cooler air becomes denser and moves below the heated air, thus, causing a high temperature.

Air moves from high pressure to lower pressure. The speed at which the wind is travelling is called VELOCITY. In other words, it is the measurement of how fast the wind is blowing. Meteorologists use an anemometer in measuring wind velocity or speed. A wind vane is used to tell the direction of the wind. If the wind blows from the East, it is called EAST wind. Wind is named after the direction where it comes from.
