Simple Past Tense

Simple past tense is a tense that is used to express an event that happened in the past and has ended in the past. This sentence can also be used to show a habit that was done in the past.

The Example of Time Signal in Simple Past Tense:

• Last night

• Last week

• Last year

• Last ............

• Two days ago

The Formula of Simple Past Tense

In verbal sentences, the verb used is the second form of the verb (Verb 2). There are two types of verbs, namely regular verbs and irregular verbs. While in nominal sentences, simple past tense uses to be or auxiliary verbs in the form of was or were.

NOTE

Was is used to subject I, SHE, HE, and IT ( a car, a child, keysia, etc).

Were is used to subject YOU, THEY, and WE ( people, houses, etc).
