Simple past

• Used to talk about finished actions.

• Actions with a SPECIFIC time in the past.

• To give specific details about an experience.

• Keywords: yesterday, last year, last night, in 1998, ago, etc.

Structure

• POSITIVE: Subject + verb in past + complement.

• NEGATIVE: Subject + didn't + verb (infinitive) + complement.

• QUESTIONS: Did + Subject + verb (infinitive) + complement.

• (These rules don't apply to the verb BE)

Present Perfect

• Used to talk about experiences in general.

• Actions that started in the past but have a connection to the present.

• Keywords: since, yet, already, for.
