Types of Hammers & Demolition Tools

  • Claw Hammers

  • Drywall Hammer

Claw Hammers

  • Typically has a steel head

  • Handle is made of wood, steel, fiberglass, or graphite

  • Generally associated with carpentry

  • Head is used to drive a nail, wedge or dowel

  • Claw is used to pull nails out of wood

  • Nailing face can be slightly rounded or have a milled or waffled surface

Types of Claw Hammers

  • Finnish hammers - usually lighter in weight and designed for lighter work such as finish carpentry.

  • Framing hammers - are usually heavier than common finish hammers due to more force being needed to drive larger nails into thicker material for framing.
