• Connector of sequence

  Used to connect two actions.

• One action happens after the other.

• 'then' comes before the second action

When

• Connector of sequence

  Used to connect two actions.

• Both actions happened at the same time.

• 'when' comes before the action you want to emphasise.

• In this sentence, you are emphasising the action "I saw a stranger"

  I was waking to school when I saw a stranger.

• In this sentence, you are emphasising the action "I was walking to school."

  I saw a stranger when I was walking to school.

• Connector of consequence

  Used to connect an action and the reason the action took place.

• 'so' comes before the action.

  The turtle sensed danger so it hid in its shell.

• Connector of contrast

  Used to connect a main idea and an opposing or contrasting idea.
