What is a Globe?

Globe is a true model (miniature form of the Earth)

• Globes maybe varying size a types- Big ones, small pocket globes, and globe like balloons.

• The globe is not fixed.

• It can be rotated the same way a potter’s wheel is rotated.

• On the globe, countries, continents and ocean are shown in their correct shape.

It’s difficult to describe the location of a point on a sphere like Earth.

We need certain points of reference and lines to find out locations of places

Axis- What is Axis?

An imaginary line, passing through the centre of the Earth, on which the Earth rotated in a tilted manner.

It runs through the North and South Pole.

Equator- What is Equator?

The imaginary lines that divides the Earth into Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
