Singular means one. Plural means more than one.

This is how we can form plurals in the following ways:


1. is the most simplest, which is only add –s


  • Nouns that uses –s to form plurals are:

  • Chairs, Pencils, Tables

  • Give Me 4 more plural nouns with -s at the end of it.

2. second way to change nouns into plural is by adding –es at the ending.

  • -ch, Benches

    -s, Buses

    -sh, Bushes

    -ss Dresses

     –x Foxes

3.Next is by adding –ies for nouns ending in:

-y and the letter before it is a consonant, remove –y.


  • For example:

    Baby: Babies

    Berry: Berries

    City: Cities

    Fry: Fries

    Fly: Flies

    Cry: Cries

4.For nouns ending with –f or –fe remove the –f and –fe and add –ves


  • Example:

    Thief: thieves

    Leaf: leaves

    Knife: knives 

    Life: lives


  • Except for this nouns: roofs and hoofs

5. Irregular Nouns

(means they have different spelling)


  • Tooth: Teeth

    Mouse: Mice

    Ox: Oxen

    Cactus: Cacti

    Man: Men

    Woman: Women
